Our Capital Campaign

YMCA volunteers, staff and community partners have been dreaming and planning toward a way to
deepen the YMCA's impact in Central Akron. Studies conducted in 2006 and 2007 indicated strong
support and a high demand for a new YMCA in the University Park neighborhood.

Residents in this area of our community-particularly our youth and teens-face great challenges.
Negative influences, sedentary living that reflects our nation's childhood obesity and economic uncertainty.

To respond to the need and the opportunity, the Akron Area YMCA, in partnership with Summa Health System, proposes building a 60,000 square foot facility near Market Street and State Route 8.

To bring this important project to fruition, the Akron Area YMCA is embarking on a campaign led by dedicated volunteers and is seeking $11 Million. The YMCA invites you to catch the vision, dream with us, and consider your role in helping to make a new YMCA in the heart of Akron a reality.
