I began my YMCA experience in 1997 at the Orrville YMCA as a lifeguard and swim instructor. After becoming a program member at the Green YMCA in the spring of 2007, I remembered why I enjoyed the YMCA so much. The YMCA provides a positive atmosphere with an emphasis on family. In September of 2007, I became the Membership Director here at the Lake Anna YMCA. I have truly enjoyed getting to know so many people within the community and hope to continue to do so.

B.S. in Secondary Education (Social Studies) from the University of Akron

I never put vegetables on my lunch sandwiches - unless Justine makes fun of me!

Started volunteering as a Child

Experience:

I began volunteering with the YMCA as a child. I became an employee as a lifeguard at the Tiffin YMCA and the coordinator in 2001. I then went to the Findlay YMCA, as the Aquatics Director in 2003. I helped open the Lake YMCA in 2004 and recently came to the Lake Anna YMCA in 2007. At the YMCA, I enjoy meeting so many people and helping them reach life long goals.

YMCA Lifeguard Instructor, YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor, YMCA Water Fitness Instructor, CPR / First Aid / Oxygen Instructor, American Swim Coaches Association Certification and Certified Pool Operator

Experience:

I have been a certified athletic trainer for 10 years and have been the A.T.C. at Manchester High School for the past 5 years. (Go Panthers!) I have taught many exercise classes, including: aerobics, spinning, yoga, toning and youth classes. Why I enjoy working at the YMCA: I am in a unique position where I can utilize my athletic training background. Athletic trainers are health care professionals who specialize in preventing, recognizing, managing and rehabilitating injuries that result from physical activity. I am happy to help members in the fitness room and also direct them to proper medical facilities, if needed. I enjoy the atmosphere and I think my co-workers are goofy… including myself.

Qualifications:

Certified athletic trainer. Other certifications include: ergonomic assessment, spinning, yoga fit and personal training.

Favorite Books & My Theme Song:

My favorite books are: Memoirs of a Geisha, The book Thief, To kill a Mocking Bird and The Red Tent.

Special Talents and Personality Quirks:

My special talents include: I can tape an ankle in my sleep. When I get bored I do cart wheels with one of my co- workers. This would fall in the goofy category, noted above. My personality quirk is: I always have candy in my office, I hide chocolate in my desk and on Sunday mornings I listen to Slovenian hour on the radio.

I graduated in Physical Education in Brazil and I am pursuing my Master's Degree in Sport and Recreation Management at Kent State University. I have been working in fitness recreation for more than 7 years.

Qualifications:

AFAA Group Exercise Certified, Zumba Instructor, YMCA Fitness Certified and Silver Sneakers Instructors.

Hobbies & Interests:

I love to dance and travel!

I am skilled in Capoeira (Brazilian Martial Art).
