Policies and Procedures

Pre-Camp Information

IMPORTANT! Please call us 10 days prior to camp with the number of participants you are bringing. Food quantity and the number of staff are dependent on the number of participants.

Accreditation

YMCA Camp Y-Noah is accredited by the American Camping Association. This means that we are in compliance with up to 300 individual health, safety, and program quality standards. The criteria include standards for living areas, food service, emergency preparation, program practices, health care, personnel, transportation and administrative procedures. Through this accreditation, parents and campers know that our camp practices have been measured against, and have met, national standards.

Camp Y-Noah Rules

The group leader is responsible for relaying camp policies and procedures to all participants and concerned parties prior to and during their use of Camp Y-Noah. The YMCA, acting through the On-site Director or other YMCA authorized personnel, shall have the right at any time to prohibit any activity of the group which the YMCA determines or considers hazardous to the safety, life, property or is opposed to the YMCA’s stated philosophy, mission and goals. The YMCA will prohibit any activity which is contrary to the American Camping Association Standards.

Supervision

The user shall provide a competent leader of 18 years of age or older. The user shall provide and be completely responsible for the supervision, safety, medical care and control of its participants, members, and guests. Also, youth groups shall have cabin leadership of at least one adult for every ten participants. User agrees that the total number of participants on the premises will not exceed the Facility Building Maximum capacity at any time.

Liability for Injury to Persons or Property

User agrees to supervise and to assume full control and responsibility for any person, entities, or things other than Camp Y-Noah personnel or property who/which are, for any reason, on the facility by reason of users program or use of the facility. The user hereby agrees to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Camp Y-Noah, its officers, employees, and representatives from and against any and all liability, loss, damage, injury or death arising from acts connected with the users’ activities while using the facilities, whether same is caused by or arrives by negligence of the user or its participants, members or guests or by failure to perform any terms of this contract.

Maintenance/Damage

The user shall be held responsible for any damage to Camp Y-Noah and its facilities. User shall pay $10/hr maintenance fee for misuse or damage caused by the user and its participants, members, or guests.

Personal Property

The YMCA assumes no responsibility for property brought into the camp by a group or individual.

Health and Safety

User must provide medical supervision, treatment, maintenance, or dispensing of medications for user’s own participants. Nominal first aid concerns (cuts, bruises, etc.) may be handled by the staff. Camp Y-Noah staff cannot administer any non-prescription drugs such as aspirin, Tylenol, cough syrup, etc. The user’s staff must administer prescribed medication. Emergency transportation is available through local emergency response groups by dialing 911. User must provide non-emergency transportation.

Vehicles

Use of vehicles at the facility is restricted to roads and parking areas designated by the Site Director. Posted speed limits shall be obeyed.

Smoking

The Group Leader and the On-Site Director will determine smoking areas.

Drugs and Alcohol

Alcoholic beverages and/or illegal drugs are strictly prohibited; they shall not be brought onto or used on Camp Y-Noah property. Further, anyone arriving to camp under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol, as determined by the on On-Site Director, will be asked to leave immediately.

Camp Fires

Campfires are allowed only in designated metal fire circles (rock circles do not count), which fire permits have been secured. It is understood that both the YMCA and User must comply with all lawful orders of appropriate fire control officials.

Quiet Hours

10 pm - 7 am.

Pets, Weapons, Motorized Vehicles

Camp Y-Noah prohibits hunting, fireworks, firearms, ammunition, and explosives at the facility. Any one caught with such items will be asked to leave immediately. Also, personal boats, 3-wheelers, 4-wheelers, dirt bikes, and any other motorized vehicles besides cars are not permitted. Further, we ask guests not to bring personal pets with them to camp.

Waterfront

No one shall enter the waterfront/watercraft area unless a qualified staff lifeguard is supervising the area. Camp Y-Noah shall provide a lifeguard to those groups that wish to use the waterfront or any watercraft, including sunbathing, swimming, and boating. Those participants wishing to swim in the deep end will successfully complete a swim evaluation. All waterfront activities will be scheduled and conducted according to waterfront policy. Life jackets must be worn at all times by boating participants.

Camp Store

Our camp store features many items and is open at your request. Listed are some items available for sale: Shirts, Sweatshirts, Hats, Candy and other souveneirs. (All items subject to availability and rate change)

Injuries

If someone is injured on camp, the On-Site Director will take any necessary steps. It is important that an Accident Report be completed if an injury happens during your stay. See the On-Site Director or Camp Staff to help you with the completion of the form.

Insurance

Medical insurance is the responsibility of the parents and or the user. If a person requires medical treatment, we will direct the medical facility to bill your insurance.

Natural Areas

Please remind your group members not to cut through the natural areas or to sit on the fences surrounding the areas. Please have group leaders monitor the participants.

Camp and Cabin Policies

Please go over these policies with your group.

  • Please do not tamper with heaters. If you need assistance, contact the camp staff.
  • You must wear footwear in camp at all times.
  • Horse barn and corral are off limits to all but those going out on rides.
  • Please do not write on walls, doors, bunks, or mattresses - any graffiti will cost $10 per letter and you will be held responsible for removal.
  • Please leave all exits in cabins clear at all times. This is a fire safety regulation.
  • Please do not remove brooms, dustpans, or wastebaskets from cabins. They are there for your convenience.
  • Please empty the trash from the cabins outside at the central trash can located in the cabin area.
  • Please park all vehicles in the designated parking areas.
  • Before leaving please sweep out the cabin and pick up any trash around the cabin.
  • Swimming and boating are off limits, except during designated times and when lifeguards are present.
  • The kitchen area is to be used by Food Service staff only. Please do not enter without permission. No kitchen equipment should leave the kitchen or dining hall.

Telephone

The camp pay phone is located in the dining hall. Emergency numbers are posted near the pay phone. We will relay any messages to group leaders. When the office is closed, there is an emergency pager number on our voice mail. The On-Site Director has the camp’s emergency pager.

Orientation

There will be an orientation for each new group by our On-Site Director or person in responsible upon group arrival or at the first meal, whichever is appropriate.

Emergency Vehicle

Dial 911. The Green Fire Department is on call for medical emergency transfer. A charge for this transportation will be charged to the guardians of the person being transferred.

Emergency Procedures

In case of fire, severe weather, lost camper, or any other emergency, ALL groups should be aware of the following procedures:

  • The emergency horn (an air horn) will be sounded three times in three directions in order to alert everyone on camp to the situation.
  • All groups must go to the Main Fire Circle. If you are at the wall or horse barn, you will go to the stables at the horse barn. DO NOT FINISH WHAT YOU ARE DOING FIRST, go directly to the designated meeting places. If there is severe weather, go to the bottom of Kastner and seek shelter inside, or if you are at a remote place, go to a low ground area void of trees and other hazards and lay face down.
  • After all group leaders have reported to their Leader, the user group director will inform the On-Site Director of missing or not yet accounted for individuals.
  • At that time, the On-Site Director or person responsible will give the procedure best suited for the emergency at hand.

Payment of Fees

The User will get a contract with a Guaranteed Minimum Fee based on the number of persons guaranteed by the User. It will be charged even if fewer people use the facility than the User guaranteed. If more people use the facility than guaranteed, the User shall pay an additional fee. This fee will represent the use of the facility by the additional people, and will be calculated by totaling the individual charges for each person’s lodging or day use fee, meal charges and other per person charges where applicable. The User agrees to deliver payment in full to a representative of Camp Y-Noah prior to departure from the facility. (User will be charged for the minimum number of participants contracted.)

Menu

Camp Y-Noah shall provide meals on a rotating schedule in accordance with an estimate of the number of diners furnished at least ten days in advance of the service. Although our kitchen is not available for outside use, If User prepares its own food, it assumes all responsibility for any foods prepared, and for all activities incident to their preparations, and shall hold Camp Y-Noah and the facility owner harmless from any liability therein. The User agrees to assist with food service as requested by Camp Y-Noah and to assist with supervision of the dining hall facilities.
