YMCA Camp Y-Noah
Overnight CampS

Overnight Camp offers fun and independence in a safe, nature-filled environment. Campers learn to make decisions and grow in independence as they choose the activities they want to participate in throughout the week. Campers also create lasting bonds and memories in their cabin groups, all while learning valuable social and interpersonal skills.

"Camp represents the best part of my childhood. It was a place where I felt safe and comfortable to just be myself, and truly feel accepted."

– Kerri Symes

LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS

LEADERS IN TRAINING  (LIT)
Ages 15-16

Boys and girls who will be 15 or 16 years old by June 17, 2018 are eligible for our unique LIT Program. This program is significantly different than our traditional overnight adventure camp, and is set up as its own entity. The primary purpose of this intensive, two-week program is to teach leadership skills that will benefit the LIT in his/her home, school, and community.

Campers form lasting bonds while learning about project development and management.  LITs work with camp leadership to develop a service project and follow the initiative from concept to completion.   Each LIT will play an active roll in the process.  Throughout the two weeks campers will find solutions to real problems that involve communication, decision making and conflict resolution.

In their downtime campers participate in the main camp activities and programs while still focusing on their leadership skills and program development. The LIT program is a stepping-stone for older campers who are interested in transitioning into future camp leaders or want to develop leadership skills but still enjoy the magic of being a camper.

Check In- June 17, 2018  3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Check Out- June 30, 2018   8:30 am

Cost for LIT:
YMCA members: $895

COUNSELORS IN TRAINING  (CIT)
Ages 16-17

CIT is a four week experience for those who have a sincere desire to develop their leadership abilities. CITs live side-by-side with counselors and campers in cabins developing a variety of skills and gaining new experiences. It has been a huge focus for our leadership team at Camp Y-Noah to continue to better this program so that we not only create a highly skilled applicant pool for future staff but we are also sending CITs home who are better prepared for school, college and the workforce.

This program offers you the opportunity to work on counseling skills, conflict resolution, behavior management, teaching techniques, program development and more. This program is designed to transition CITs from being a camper to focusing on becoming mentors and roles models for others.  CIT must be at least 16 years of age at program start date.

The first week of programming includes extensive training and a behind the scenes experience of camp followed by assisting in our day and overnight camp programs.  CIT will also spend time training at Akron Rotary Camp for special needs campers.

The CIT program is held over 4 consecutive weeks.  CIT’s are at Camp from Sunday to Saturday and are encouraged to spend time at home on their day off.
