New for 2009: Ranch Day Camp All Summer!
Firestone Equestrian Center Programs
The Firestone Equestrian Center at Camp Y-Noah offers year-round programs for youth and adults. No matter your riding experience, our skilled instructors will challenge you. Come out and visit us at the ranch and you'll meet equestrian staff who are as good with people as they are with horses.
Lessons are available year-round in our indoor and outdoor riding arenas from beginner to advanced level riders in both English and Western riding styles. We also offer trail rides that will take you through miles of beautiful trails that extend across the 250 wooded acres of Camp Y-Noah.
Scouts can come to earn their animal care and riding skills badges.
Riding Day and Resident Camps are geared towards young horse enthusiasts who want to benefit from daily, intensive lessons each summer.
Finally, our equestrian staff hosts large and small groups for birthday parties and staff picnics. Our classroom space is available for these outings, as well.

Ranch Day Camp adds a few hours of horseback riding instruction to the Day Camp schedule. Campers enjoy the best of Day Camp (swimming, archery and more), as well as great instruction for beginner and intermediate riders.
Full Day Ranch Camp

COED, AGES 8 – 16 (In 2009: SESSION 7 ONLY)
Full Day Ranch Camp is for riders that can’t get enough of the ranch and horses. This is a one week session that stresses a more intensive riding schedule. Campers spend all day at the ranch with extra riding lessons and more hands on responsibilities around the barn. You won’t want to miss this new experience for any level rider.
Ranch Resident Camp

Program members: $500
This is a great program for the true horse lover! At Ranch Camp, we dedicate half of the day to riding (arena work and ground lessons) and horse care instruction. Our riding programs follow the Certified Horsemanship Association's (CHA) safety and instructional guidelines and are held in our outstanding indoor and outdoor riding facilities. Campers are grouped by age and ability in their riding lessons. Away from the ranch, campers spend time with their cabin groups swimming, playing team sports, going to campfires and enjoying traditional camp activities.
Wrangler-In-Training
Sunday – Saturday
July 5th – 11th
COED AGES 15 – 17
Cost:YMCA members: $270
Program members: $320
Wrangler-In-Training serves as the future to the Ranch Program at Camp Y-Noah. Learn what it takes to be a Wrangler. Acquire leadership; equine care taking and much more! Applicants must have experience with a formal ranch program and must apply and be interviewed by the Equestrian Director. This is a one-week session, concentrating on working in the Equine field.
Year-Round Riding Opportunities
Riding Lessons
Monday – Thursday (As early as 4:00 p.m.)
Group lessons are available for $25 per student. Riders are grouped by ability and lessons are available for participants 8 years of age and older. Lessons are available weekly for 8-week sessions, from beginner to advanced, and offered in both English and Western. Youth and adults are welcome. We are also able to schedule lessons around your busy schedule.
New in 2009! We will be offering 30-minute riding lessons for 3-7 year-olds. Contact our Equestrian Director, Susan Garside, at susang@akronymca.org for more information.
Public Riding
Groups or families may book rides through the equestrian center throughout the year. Days and times are flexible. Room rental is also available for parties, meetings and social functions. Programs include parties, Scout badges, educational trips and trail rides. Participants on group rides must be 8 years or older. Don't forget to ask for details about pony rides for youngsters.
