Membership Types

Effective January 2, 2005, the Akron Area YMCA’s basic membership types and rates are as follows:

Adult An adult membership is for men and women ages 18-64 years. $75.00 $41.77 $501.20
Family A family membership is considered two adults and any dependent children up to 24 years living in the same household. (Evidence may be requested). $100.00 $58.91 $706.86
Older Adult The YMCA is committed to a high quality, competitively priced health enhancement programs for older adults (OA). Older adult memberships are for men and women 65 years and older. $50.00 $32.13 $385.56
Program Membership Any individual or family that participate in YMCA programs or contribute to our Partners With Youth Annual giving campaign but are not active members with monthly or annual dues. N/A N/A N/A
Youth Youth Memberships are for boys and girls 17 years and younger. A parent or legal guardian must sign all youth membership applications. Those younger than 11 years old of age will not be permitted into a YMCA membership branch without parental supervision. $50.00 $12.86 $154.28

SilverSneakers

The SilverSneakers Fitness Program offers older adults free membership (with participating insurance companies) to the Akron Area YMCA and access to group exercise classes that focus on improving strength, flexibility and coordination. Ware the exclusive organization in the area that provides the SilverSneakers Fitness Program. For information about SilverSneakers, contact your local branch.

Payment Options

When you join online, you can pay by Visa or MasterCard.

Monthly Draft: You may choose to pay either by monthly draft of your credit card or EFT draft from a checking or Savings account. If you choose this method, your join fee will be spread over your first 4 payments. Your payment method can be changed by visiting your local branch.

Annual Pay: You may choose to pay a full year up front. If you join as an annual pay member, you will pay 12 months plus a partial thirteenth month (depending on the day of the month you join). Annual pay memberships are non-refundable.

Join fees are non-refundable.

When you choose either option, be assured that your transaction will be handled securely and confidentially.

Termination Process

NO CONTRACTS, NO INTEREST. Membership will continue until you complete the 30-day written termination notice available at the Member Services Desk at your home branch. Annual pay memberships are non-refundable.

Financial Assistance Information

The YMCA offers financial assistance for those in need. Read more about financial assistance. Financial assistance changes to your monthly draft can be made after you join by visiting your YMCA home branch.

Corporate Wellness Information

The YMCA offers Corporate Wellness plans to a wide variety of area business employees. After you have joined online visit your home branch to find out if your company has a corporate membership with the Akron Area YMCA and have the appropriate adjustments made to your monthly draft.
