Phoenix Day Suspension:
A collaborative program of the Akron Area YMCA and the Summit County Juvenile Court, Phoenix Day Suspension provides an alternative to out-of-school suspension for youth referred by, or under the jurisdiction, of the court.
Day Curfew Program:
This program provides a secure and structured environment at the East Akron YMCA facility to detain youth in violation of Akron City Code 139.061, which states: Youth, between the ages of 6 – 18, may not be on a street or in a public area, between the hours of 8:30am and 2:30pm on school days.
Night Curfew Program:
This program provides a secure environment to detain youth that are in violation of the City of Akron's Night Curfew Ordinance, which states: No youth, under eighteen years of age, may be on the streets or in a public place between the hours of 11:00pm and 5:00am, unless in the company of a parent of legal guardian.
After School Tutoring Program:
This program provides academic tutoring and instruction, as well as Life Skill Development Activities for students who need academic support.
Teen Challenge:
The
Teen Challenges program provides support for “at risk” girls,ages 12 – 17 dealing with the pressures of adolescence, through educational awareness, life skills, health, etiquette and other support services.
Youth Advocate Program:
This program provides individual and group mentoring services for those under the supervision of the Summit County Children’s Services Bureau or the Summit County Cluster Program. The program’s primary goal is assisting referred youth in stabilizing the home environment.

Job Re-entry Program:
This program provides youth, who are under the care of the Ohio Department of Youth Services, with a better opportunity to become employed within a short time after release. Mentors guide youth with insight and goals, aimed at eliminating “at risk” behavior and encourage a successful, healthy and responsible life.
Mentoring Vulnerable Youth:
The program’s goal is the prevention of out-of-wedlock pregnancies among youth, ages 10 – 21. Targeted youth are those residing in low-income neighborhoods or foster care and those who are homeless or ex-offenders. Participants are matched with volunteer mentors, who help develop, meet and exceed certain goals.
Minority Achievers:
Since 1994, the Akron Area YMCA
Minority Achievers Program continues to support minority youth in the community through mentorship, tutoring sessions, leadership workshops, career seminars and community projects. Adult Achievers and volunteer leaders encourage minority youth to develop a sense of self-worth and set higher education and career goals. Divided into Youth Achievers, for ages 9 – 13, and Teen Achievers, for ages 14 – 17, the program guides and prepares participants for a successful future.
