A Safe and Enriching Special Needs Camp

Rotary Camp was founded in 1924 with the purpose of providing children with special needs a place to spend their summers – a place where disabilities and limits do not hold kids back.

The Rotary Camp for Children with Special Needs, in cooperation with the Akron Area YMCA, offers camping experiences for children and adults with disabilities.  Rotary Camp is American Camping Association (ACA) accredited and provides a nurturing and enriching atmosphere where campers develop friendships, skills and memories that will last a lifetime.
    
Eligibility Requirements

Children ages 6-17 and who have physical or developmental disabilities are eligible to participate in this fun-filled camping experience. Adults 18 and over with physical and developmental disabilities are eligible for specific programs.  The camp staff reviews all camper applications to ensure eligibility.
   
All campers must be able to work in small and large groups settings with supervision. Counselor to camper ratios are 2:6 campers' needs must be able to match maximum ratio requirements. Aggressive behaviors towards self and other are not tolerated. Campers must use socially appropriate methods to communicate needs. Campers must be in good health at time of attendance, able to participate in all activities unrestricted.
