Safety around water
If you've watched the TV news or read the paper in the last few weeks, you may have heard about the Y's Safety Around Water collaboration with The City of Akron, Akron Children's Hospital, Akron Public Schools and the Akron Community Foundation.
Here's a link to the article in the Akron Beacon Journal (June 30, 2017).
Safety Around Water is not swimming lessons, but more of a water safety program that enables children (ages 5-14) to be comfortable around water and have the basic skills to remain safe if they happen to fall in to a pool.
The community initiative, piloted this summer with the Akron Urban League and the City of Akron Summer Enrichment Program, is only avialable to children enrolled in these summer camps.
Future programs, involving students in Akron Public Schools, will be planned.
