Through the CATCH Kids Club, we help children develop the mindset and habits to succeed in school and in life. We do this by:
Educating them on healthy food choices and the importance of exercise, coupled with fun, structured physical activity and healthy treats.
Engaging parents to create a healthy home environment and spend more quality time with their children--reading, cooking and being active together.
Encouraging good school attendance by setting group goals to miss two or fewer days of school each grading period and celebrate goal attainment.
Incorporating reading opportunities into our program.
Involving children in conversations about the positive aspects of school.
By using the evidence-based Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH) curriculum, we can provide targeted, memorable and understandble lessons that are reinforced through games, songs, and of course healthy snacks. These can then be reinforced at home -- even giving the child the opportunity to be the teacher to his/her adults, keeping the whole child as well as the whole family on the road to good health. In addition, partnering with Summit Education Initiative (SEI) is helping students achieve 90% or better school attendance and at or above grade level scores on Ohio State Testing.
CATCH (COORDINATED APPROACH TO CHILD HEALTH) The Summit County CATCH Collaborative (SC3) partners are working together to help kids develop and sustain healthy behavioral habits during the foundational stages of childhood that are critical to long-term developmental success. Backed by 25 years of research, CATCH has been proven to launch kids and communities toward healthier lifestyles. It has the largest evidence base of any obesity prevention program and has been demonstrated nationwide to be the most cost-effective means of preventing obesity in an environment that's safe, fun, and easy to maintain.
